While this facility is only for Chinese, it sets a good example for other non-Chinese facilities. Waiting list for getting in is about 3 years. That tells us how bad it is for the elderly to wait for proper care in BC. We need to build more facilities like that so our parents or grandparents will get the care they need.

Government funding is not enough and they need private fundraising to support equipment purchases, staff and most of all, expand the size of the facility or build new ones for those who have to wait 3 years.

I have to say the government should look into new way of saving building costs so people can afford to buy or rent. Affordable housing has many effects on the economy of BC and everywhere. Affordable housing contributes to lower living costs for everyone. By lowering the cost of housing, people can afford to buy their own home; the government can build low income housing at a lower cost and may not have to increase the payment according to inflation.

It was the first time I met with the Premier the first time. She is very friendly and approachable. Many supporters were there to meet with her on a hot sunny working day. I hope she can help build a stronger BC and improve our economy.

Senior and care facilities are needed to look after as the number of baby boomers is growing. While the house price is going up, so is the rental cost. The supplement from the government would have to increase to make the adjustment for the rising rental payment and inflation. However, if we can lower the costs and to provide low income housing to the needed people, the government can save money as the costs of housing would be under control and be kept low.

She is well connected to many communities and you can see her meeting with people all the time to listen to their concerns. She helped raised federal funding for the new library at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond. With her new job as the Minister of State (Seniors). She will be listening to what the seniors need and bring them back to Ottawa for support.
